### How does the Hydrotech Cloth Filter work?

The Hydrotech Cloth Filter: Confidence series works by passing water through the pile filter material that is mounted on the Hydrotech disc filter frame. This unique design allows suspended solids to be trapped in the pile fibers while allowing the filtered water to flow through. Our industry standard cloth media has a nominal particle removal of 5 micron. This enables robust TSS and phosphorus reduction.

**Wedged Hem Interchangeable Panel (WHIP) technology .**   
The innovative panel design on the new Hydrotech Cloth Filter results in panels that weigh only 3kgs when wet and allow access to the rear of the panel for cleaning. This results in 80% quicker removal and cleaning of panels compared with other pile cloth media filters and completely eliminates the need for a lifting crane.

**Significantly less plant downtime and site disruption for easy maintenance.**  
Due to quicker panel cleaning and replacement, users will experience far less downtime of their filters. The Hydrotech Cloth Filter can also be combined with the optional Veolia service offer or the Veolia panel leasing offer. This first-of-its-kind model eliminates the need for panel cleaning as a Veolia technician simply replaces the used panel with a clean one when necessary

###  What is pile cloth technology?

  

Pile cloth media filtration technology offers superior filtration efficiency by capturing finer suspended particles. The high number of individual fibers in the pile cloth media creates a large surface area which makes these filters particularly effective at capturing and removing particulate phosphorus, microplastics and many more particles.



 

 

 

 



###  How does a cloth filter work?

  

A pile cloth filter works by filtering particles using a dense fabric or cloth consisting of many individual fibers. As the dirty water passes through the filter media, particles collide with and stick to the fibers of the pile cloth. The depth and density of the cloth increase the probability of capturing very fine particles. Larger particles are caught on the surface, while finer particles get trapped deeper inside the cloth structure.



 

 

 

 



###  What makes the Hydrotech Cloth filter effective?

  

The Hydrotech Cloth Filter: Confidence Series focuses on providing value to the customer in three critical areas:

1. **Health and safety** -The parts of the filter requiring routine maintenance have been mounted externally on the filter to provide safe and easy access by technicians  
    2. **Operational reliability** - The new Hydrotech Cloth Filter employs patented Wedged Hem Interchangeable Panel (WHIP) technology mounted on the tried and tested Hydrotech Disc Filter platform. Compared with other cloth filter options, this technology enables 80% quicker removal and cleaning of filter panels, resulting in significantly less plant downtime and site disruption.

A wastewater utility in Denmark, is investigating a solution to address phosphorus reduction and quaternary treatment. By piloting the Hydrotech Cloth Filter: Confidence Series at their Avedøre site, they are gaining a better understanding of this key technology to achieve their treatment goals.
